Artist’s Statement

Portraiture, for artist Amy Selwyn, is not about a single moment in time. Or, a selfie! Amy Selwyn creates portraits that assert, I am here. Simultaneously expanding and compressing time, the portraits insist on the continuity of presence, with the subject having a past, a present and a future. Amy’s portraits include images, spoken word, recorded audio, performance and text.
